Community

Eastern Region Community and Voluntary members work for large and very small employers all over the Region. Members can be in the Health Service or Local Government, depending on their work.

Eastern Region has a Community and Vountary steering group which has worked for several years to try to develop better organisation in the C&V Sector.

Our 2009  Annual delegate conference decided to set up a Service Group to bring together representation for C&V members at regional and national level. We have mapped and linked all our members to the Service Groups, but for now they will stay in their current branches.

The new group will include members working for Housing Associations.

Next steps on this will be happening after Christmas.

Cambridgeshire and Herts County branches shared a project worker until September 09. This enabled new recognition agreements, new stewards' networks and an increase in membership.

Both branches are now funding project workers to organise and support  this group of members.
