South Cambs AGM

Phil Gooden Regional Organiser praised South Cambs branch for their AGM success.

"When the proposed redundancies were announced there was a feeling within the membership that the outcome was a fait a compli.

However we said that even if that was the case, their management should be made to work for what they want."

The UNISON branch held meetings with all staff, facilitated a trade union as well as individual responses, reinforcing the point that we all needed to be singing from the same hymn sheet.

We insisted on a report from management and an explanation being made after the close of consultation, giving the reasons why any of our proposals had not been adopted.

It was felt the AGM needed to be  relevant so an update on current proposals was placed on the agenda along with all the officer elections.

We were rewarded when around 50 members gave up their lunch hour to attend.
