May 2012 local elections
In May 2012 approximately a third of all seats in councils around the region (Just under 400 this year !!) are up for election. UNISONs Labour link would like to continue working with those local councils where labour hold control and would like to work with more labour controlled councils and work with stronger labour groups in opposition.
UNISON also want to increase its voice from within local government and therefore are supporting as many UNISON members who are standing for labour as possible. Already UNISON are aware of members standing in Cambridge, Harlow, Ipswich, Colchester and St Albans and would like any other UNISON members standing for labour to contact s.older@unison.co.uk .
