This is a total investment of £330k from the NHS, with Unison and it's national learning project the Learning, Equality and Diversity in Unison funded a Project Worker to Lead the development of this unique project on behalf of the Trade Unions. This project was established from the 1st April 2009 and is due to complete on the 31st March 2010, however, Unison is currently negotiating with the East of England NHS to have this Project extended. Further details will be published in the forthcoming months.
NHS East of England/UNISON ULR Project - Update December 2009
Outlined below is an update of the outcomes of the project by Carole Proctor, UNION Project Lead.
The Union SHA ULR Project has to date managed to recruit 76 new ULRs, which represents an increase of 330%, On top of that at the beginning of the project 2 of the 12 Trusts had Lifelong Learning Agreements in place, and none of the others had them under consideration. At 3rd December 2009 Three of the 12 Trusts have a Lifelong Learning Agreement in place, and seven of the remaining 9 have an agreement under discussion. Once all the ULRs are trained, which is currently taking place, we aim to use them to recruit staff particularly in bands 1-4 to courses.
