Equal pay
Unison is committed to Equal Pay in the region and in 2008 set up a team to ensure that all Local Government Authorities in Eastern Region had completed or were in the process of completing a single status agreement.
This meant that a number of members would recieve an increase in salary to reflect the value of their job once a fair pay and reward structure could be agreed, and where back pay would be awarded.
Some authorities did not offer the full legally entiled back pay to all employees and therefore UNISON worked with employers to negotiate back payments and where need be commenced legal procceddings to achieve full back pay via Equal pay claims for some members.
