PRIDE - Eastern Region has truly gone PRIDE mad this year, with 3 new Pride events hitting our Regional calendar, namely Norwich, Suffolk & Essex.

Policy Weekend - The Group held its policy weekend in the first quarter of 2009 & linked in with the South East LGBT Group on an informal basis. The weekend was judged as a success & the Group will look to planning its next policy weekend in 2010.

This Region, via the national commitment to the Public Sector Equality Duties & UNISON’s own Equality Scheme, has set up a Regional Equality Action Group [REAG] jointly with all the SOG’s, regional young members group & the Regional Retired Members Committee. This is the only one of its kind in the whole of UNISON involving lay activists that we are aware of & is proving very successful in linking the SOG’s into the unions own equality scheme & getting them to work together on all the equality strands. The LGBT Group has worked hard to ensure that their voice is heard in that forum by sending 2 representatives to the REAG meetings & plan to continue to do so in the future.
