Regional Welfare Open Day Event - 30th September 2011
The Regional Welfare Committee held a very successful event on Friday 30th September
at the Cambridge Professional Development Centre. Around 40 people took part in the day.
Speakers included:-
Julie Grant - Head of Welfare
Tamara Moreau - Community Welfare Officer - Colchester Borough Council who gave an update on Benefits
Jane Dabbs - UNISON Colchester LG Branch & Committee Member - who presented on Credit Unions
& Glyn Hawker - Regional Secretary
Representatives from Service Providers gave away literature and promotional items:
UNISON Drive; UIA; LV Frizzell; Lighthouse; Vision Express; TC advertising
A fantastic £90 was raised in the raffle for the Bucket & Spade appeal.
1st prize of £50 cash went to Lee Ingram Smythe of Environment Agency Branch - well done Lee!
The day was a good opportunity for Welfare Officers to network with other Branch Representatives, to get to know members of the Regional Welfare Committee and to suggest ideas on how we can work together more effectively to promote UNISON Welfare services to members.
