UNISON VIEW- ESSEX AND IBM DEAL
Public Services union UNISON has reacted with anxiety at news that Essex County has signed a deal with IBM to provide services in the County.
The union consider it inevitable that this will impact on services and jobs in Essex.
Mick Mahoney, Essex Branch Secretary said
"Unison has raised its concerns about this contract during the negotiations and will continue to monitor developments. This is a fundamental change in the Authority's procurement processes and will have far-reaching implications for the staff and the residents of Essex. Unison will endeavour to ensure that their interests are protected."
UNISON has condemned the growing consensus that public service cuts will be necessary to pay for a financial crisis caused by private banks and vowed to step up its Million Voices campaign for public services and a fairer society. Add your voice to our million voices at unison.org.uk.
