A vital part of the role of the Branch Health and Safety Officer is to build the branch health and safety organisation.  An organised branch is a safe branch.

This course will provide an opportunity for you to meet other Branch Health and Safety Officers, share your experiences and work together to find out more about your role.  You will find that the course will give you the information you need, as well as the practical skills you need to work with health and safety officers and members to build a safe workplace. 

What will it be about?

The course will help you:
• Find out about your role as a UNISON Branch Health and Safety Officer
• Practice the skills you need as a Branch Health and Safety Officer
• Give you confidence to support the members in the branch effectively
• Understand the employer’s health and safety management strategy and your role in engaging with management
• Understand the respective roles of health and safety representatives and members
• Understand how the branch can operate across more than one employer
• Develop your understanding about where you fit into the branch organisation
